Last parts of Pop- and Jazz-Liisa series

Our longest running series ever, the Pop-Liisa and Jazz-Liisa epics, have come to an end. Parts 16,17 and 18 are coming out in early March, and in many ways we’ve saved the best for last: the last Pop sessions include Hasse Walli’s Zeus group, who never entered any actual studio, Tabula Rasa with their last incarnation before breaking up, reggae-influenced rock group Donna and legendary psych-prog band Magyar all perform on air.

The Jazz-Liisa series end with a bang, as part 18 features Edward Vesala’s large ensemble in top form, shortly before their studio sessions for the album Nan Madol. Jazz-Liisa 17 also has Vesala, this time performing with an impromptu improvisatory supergroup that consisted of Teppo Hauta-Aho, Juhani Aaltonen and Esa Helasvuo. Part 16 features two of Finland’s longest running big bands, Tapiola Big Band and Pori Big Band.

We’ve chosen some tracks off the six albums for your listening pleasure.
